Some conversations need more than a meeting. They need the conditions in which people can truly hear one another.
When people come together around an important issue, they bring more than their ideas. They bring different experiences, perspectives, assumptions, concerns, hopes, and ways of communicating. Sometimes those differences lead to discovery. At other times, they can make it difficult for a group to move beyond familiar positions or patterns.
My role as a facilitator is to help create the conditions for a different kind of conversation—one grounded in curiosity, attention, and a willingness to listen.
Rather than directing the group toward a predetermined answer, I help participants slow the conversation down, listen more fully, explore what may be beneath differing perspectives, and remain curious about what they—and others—may not yet see.
Facilitation can support organizations, teams, community groups, boards, families, and others who are navigating change, exploring an important question, strengthening relationships, clarifying shared direction, or working through conversations that have become difficult or stuck.
Each engagement begins with understanding the people involved, the circumstances bringing them together, and what they hope the conversation might make possible. The process is then designed around the needs of that particular group.
Sometimes the way forward emerges not from talking more, but from creating the conditions for something new to be heard.
